Dear Students and Families,
I hope everyone is doing well and enjoyed their spring break COVID 19 style! As we continue distant learning for another week I would like to offer some new suggestions for websites and activities. The following link is a great resource for free websites for all academic areas.
If you are looking for more than just online activities, please check out Hand2mind for printable daily lessons in both reading and math for grades K-5.
Please continue to work daily reading books, taking AR tests, and on ScootPad in both math and ELA (English Language Arts). Also, check the video below to see me releasing the butterflies! I will be calling to touch base with each of you sometime this week. Keep up the great work!

At Home Suggested Learning Plan
I sure do miss seeing everyone and hope you are all doing well. While we are all distancing ourselves from others, I would like to remind my class to continue to learn at home.
On our Nate Mack education plan, it is suggested that students spend about 3 hours per day on academics. I have made specific assignments on ScootPad in ELA (English Language Arts) and Math that were topics that I was planning on covering during these weeks we are now off.
All students are now able to complete AR quizzes at home. You can use books that you have at home or read books on MyOn and take a quiz on them. Just click on the AR tab after reading the book. The student who completes the most points in our grade level will be earning a surprise!!! Keep reading.
If you need help with passwords, please email me, and I will send them to you.
Suggested Work (Each Day)
ELA:
1. Scootpad: Work on the assignments that I have assigned to you.
2. MyOn: Read and take an AR quiz
3. Use Smarty Ants: It is connected to your MyOn account.
4. Write a journal on paper or use your Google account to write a paragraph or create a new slideshow. Don't forget to share it with me.
Math:
1. Use Scootpad to complete fact practice
2. Scootpad: Work on the assignments that I have assigned to you.

PARENTS WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Second grade is making a basket that will be raffled off at the Fall Festival. The theme of our basket is "Arts and Crafts". We need you to send in any arts and crafts items that we could use for our basket. Thank you so much for your help.

We have been working on writing silly stories for the last week. This class loves to write stories and share them with their peers. I will be sending home the silly stories with your child. Have your child read his/her writing to you and the family. Encourage your child to write more silly stories at home.
We are off to a great start this school year! I love how everyone is coming to school every day and on time. Homework was sent home for the first time this week. Parents please check over the homework for neatness, accuracy, and remember to sign the reading log. In math we are currently working on strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems up to 20. Some facts must be memorized. We have been working on memorizing the doubles facts. (ex.5+5=10, 8+8=16) We have also been working on counting on and fact families to help us solve facts to 20. Scootpad is not up and running yet, but will be soon. Please remember if you have any questions and need to contact me, you can text me through the BLOOMZ app or send me an email by clicking the "contact me" tab at the top of this page.
